About Cedar Canyon retreat

Conveniently located just 5 miles up the canyon from beautiful Cedar City, Utah.  Cedar Canyon Retreat is nestled along Highway 14, a Utah Scenic Byway that winds through Cedar Canyon while showcasing Southern Utah's geologic history. It climbs to 9,000 feet to reach Cedar Breaks National Monument, Brian Head Ski Resort, Navajo Lake and Duck Creek recreational area.  Highway 14 connects with US Highway 89 with close access to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.

Since the 1980s, this property was home to a family that operated a wheelwright shop and a black smith operation. More specifically the old log structures were used to build and restore wagon wheels and other parts needed to restore pioneer wagons. The log house that the family built holds many cherished family memories.
Things To Know:
For the first time, we are staying open this winter! We hope we can help you enjoy the outdoors in the "off-season." As you visit us between November and March, be prepared for variable conditions, including freezing temperatures, snow, and mud.
Big Rigs: If you have a trailer or motorhome over 50ft long, please review our page on big rigs.
Telecom: many people ask about our Internet and phone access. Because we are in a canyon several miles from town, our options are limited. Currently, we get good T-Mobile service, but not much AT&T and Verizon. We provide free WiFi, but our only option is satellite (Starlink); thus we cannot guarantee high-speed bandwidth for you teleworkers, but it has been fine for typical guests, like one streaming device per site, perhaps slower in the evening when demand is higher.

Preserving time tested values in a scenic rich surrounding

As the new owners of this wonderful mountain property we hope to honor the pioneers and those who carried on the values of the pioneer families. In 2024, new ownership remodeled and updated the house into a guest cabin and began expansion of the RV Retreat and campground, which originally opened in the spring of 2020.

Our vision is to provide guests with a place nestled in the mountains and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We hope our guests will experience the richness and beauty of Southern Utah. You will always be welcome to return again and again to the magical experience of Cedar Canyon Retreat.
